In 1990, after more line-up changes, King Diamond released the album The Eye, which only charted at number 179 in the US, which makes The Eye King Diamond's lowest charting album in North America. The following year, the band released the follow-up album Conspiracy, which charted at number 111 in North America, number 41 in Sweden and at number 64 in the Netherlands. Following some line-up changes, the group released the album 'Them' in 1988, which peaked at number 38 in Sweden, number 65 in the Netherlands, and at number 89 in the US, making 'Them' King Diamond's highest charting album in North America. It looks like the inside of a Satanic church.I personally don't care what King Diamond chooses to sing about, as neither of the two bands' themes disturb me one bit. There’s a gigantic stage set up with a baphomet symbol, hanging upside-down crosses, a huge backdrop and a two-metre tall walkway with stairways. The new King Diamond stage set-up looks more like you’d think Mercyful would’ve looked like if we had the money at the time.
That’s why we have so many different religions and people shouldn’t judge others for not believing the same thing they believe. If there was proof of one God, we’d all believe in that one God. Mercyful is more about legends like the headless riders, stories of Egypt, questioning religious beliefs, but then there’s an album like ‘House Of God’, which goes deeper into how no-one has proof of the existence of any God.
